Give Yourself the Gift of Time and Patience!

Give Yourself the Gift of Time and Patience! Today I saw a photo from Kino Yoga on Facebook where she posted a picture of her in a yoga pose that she had not before believed that she could ever do. Among other things she commented in this regards that ”Let your mind and heart be bigger than any obstacle, doubt or difficulty” which is a very powerful statement indeed from Kino! This statement in my view is very helpful because it teaches us and reminds us that we can change and/or address all that we find so challenging in a certain moment! It is possible to do! And this means to allow time to do its work as well, everything does not happen over night or right away. In this world we live in where instant gratification seems to be the way things should be done, and this view distracts us from the fact that we need to keep on working on whatever it is we would like to achieve, a yoga pose, a book, a job, a happy relationship, and keep on working on it even when we seem to loose track of our goal maybe believing that we cannot do it as we let doubt sink in. Things are happening all along as we practice and work on things and this might not be instantly recognizable. Therefore we really need to work on developing a much more positive mindset and to release doubt in our own abilities. We need to understand that working on something, developing something worth having also takes time, and that while we are working on achieving what we set out to do, this is also being successful as this way we are in fact taking positive action to do something of value to us. Many times the ‘instant gratification’ mindset makes people feel bad about themselves as they might not feel that they are that good or successful because what they would like to have or achieve actually takes time to have or to achieve. Don’t rid yourself of the experience to try and to try again, as this is all part of successfully developing something worth having. Practice, practice, practice whatever skill or project you are working on, and enjoy that process. It is necessary to give ourselves that sense of self-respect and self-worth that a belief in our own innate abilities to make positive use of our minds and hearts to both work on and achieve our goals brings us. Thank you Kino for this insight!
